Hong Kong’s First Hot Air Balloon Festival (HABFest) in September

If you’ve ever imagined soaring above Hong Kong’s legendary skyline- whether it’s against the backdrop of a Simpson’s-like sky, rose-tinted sunsets, or a dark neon canvas, this September is the perfect time to make it a reality. The city welcomes HABFest 2025, so prepare to be dazzled by balloon displays in the sky.

Revel in the open-air live music under the stars, soak up the festival’s high energy, immerse yourself in the thrilling carnival games, and to food and drinks from local vendors along Hong Kong’s stunning harbourfront. 

Visitors will get to experience seeing hot air balloons from around the world, including Canada, Japan, UK and Germany. Expect to see a diverse display of balloon designs, from animals like the Red Panda, a cat to cheerful characters and classic grand balloons.

When: (Thursday-Sunday) September 4-7 2025 

Location: Central Harbourfront Event Space

Special activities/experiences: Stay for the night glow show experiences to witness vibrant balloons illuminate the night sky, perfect for capturing some unique photo ops. 

Join the September 7th sunrise session for various other activities. You’ll meet Ocean Park’s loveable mascots and get to enjoy an exhilarating motorbike stunt performance.

There is also the opportunity to join a Balloon Run, where participants run alongside the playful hot air balloons. Registration includes entry to the festival’s morning sessions as well as festivities awaiting after the run, Winners and runner ups from each category can win a tethered hot air balloon ride.

Indoor / Outdoor: Fully outdoor

Recommended clothing: Wear comfortable, breathable clothing to stay cool and flat shoes as you will be walking around a lot. Don’t forget to bring a hat, and extra sunscreen if you plan to stay at the event all day
