The Hong Kong Ballet is creating a fresh take on Shakespearean classic of Romeo and Juliet, and transforming it with a playful twist, set against the backdrop of 1960’s Hong Kong.
This production features principal dancers Ye Feifei and Ryo Kato, notable guest dancers and is here to captivate audiences. Expect to see this play in a whole new light with martial arts elements, mahjong, cheongsams, vibrant street settings, and kung-fu street battles.
This celebrated performance takes place right here in our city, and will run for five scheduled dates listed below.
Story:
A passionate story between two young lovers from rival triad families set in old Hong Kong. Juliet is the daughter of a wealthy Shanghainese tycoon, promised to a wealthy suitor of her father’s choosing–unaware she has already given her heart to Romeo, the only son of his greatest enemy.
